Quiet company.
Useful products.
Barnes Technology Limited is a UK holding company building and operating software products for retail, hospitality and attractions.
Barnes Technology is a holding company built around one idea: software for the places people go in person. We build and operate our own products — retail, hospitality, attractions — rather than selling consultancy. First venture: Park Attack.
Each venture has its own product surface, its own brand and its own audience. The parent company carries the operational standards — the engineering practices, the security and privacy baseline, the support discipline, and the long view that a single product team rarely has time for.
In practice that means three things: a small portfolio (never more than we can run well), modern web and mobile stacks (no legacy weight), and a bias toward shipping over presenting.
Barnes Technology is founded and run by Lee Barnes. Twenty-five years' experience in retail and technology — programme delivery, product, engineering — across operators, vendors and integrators.
Specific over vague
Named people, named places, named problems. Specifics travel; abstractions stall.
Deliberate
Every release, every decision, made on purpose. Some weeks that's shipping daily; some weeks it's a week of listening to users before a single line of code changes.
Operate, don't just ship
Shipping is a quarter of the job. The rest is what happens after launch — uptime, support, careful iteration.
British voice
A small company that says what it means, in the words it means them in. No exclamation marks.
Evidence-led
Decisions tied to what's actually happening in the data and on the ground, not what would make a better keynote.
Long view
Build things that should still make sense in five years. Avoid trends with a half-life shorter than the product.
